EXTERNAL ENVELOPE (External Solid Door)

External 44mm Thick Solid Door, size 813 x 2032mm high

The doorset in a wall opening, for walking through, or on a cupboard. External doors are used for access and internal doors for communicating. Single and double doors are usually side-hung, but there are other types, e.g. flexible, sliding, swing, revolving, folding, and up-and-over. Special doors are used against fire or smoke.

In Revit, the door is drawn using a Door family which provides a count measurement to SkyBIM.

Example: External Solid Door

INTERNAL DIVISIONS (Half Brick Walls)

Internal Half Brick Wall 90mm Thick

A brick wall is a wall made up of courses of bricks laid in mortar according to a bond, used for cladding and infilling.
In Revit, the one brick wall is drawn using a Basic Wall family which provides quantity, length, area and volume measurements to SkyBIM’s Product Editor.

Example: Internal Half Brick Wall 90mm Thick

SkyBIM Product Editor Ingredients

Half brick walls
Area = Revit Basic Wall Area. See SkyBIM’s Consumption Formula Editor.

Brick reinforcement to brick walls
Length = Revit Basic Wall Length * [(Wall Height {Manual} / Brick Thickness {Manual}) / Number of Brick Courses {Manual}]

Softboard joint between wall and surface bed not exceeding 300mm high
Length = Revit Basic Wall Length

Rake out softboard joint and seal with polysulphide joint sealer
Length = Revit Basic Wall Length

One coat plaster to one brick walls
Area = Revit Basic Wall Area * 2

Extra over for one coat skim coat plaster finish on brick walls
Area = Revit Basic Wall Area * 2

Two coats Acrylic PVA paint applied to plastered walls
Area = Revit Basic Wall Area * 2

GROUND FLOOR CONSTRUCTION (Mass Concrete Surface Bed)

A mass concrete surface bed is the un-reinforced slab that is supported by the ground, unlike a suspended slab. It can be on fill, which should not exceed 600mm in thickness. The formation may be shaped for thickenings and covered with hardcore and sand bedding or a layer of blinding concrete. It may also need a sheet plastics damp proof membrane, depending on site conditions and building occupancy. Large areas of surface bed are cast in alternate bays.

In Revit, the mass concrete surface bed is drawn using a Floor family which provides quantity, perimeter, area and volume measurements to SkyBIM’s Product Editor.

Example: Mass Concrete Surface Bed 170mm thick on and including 150mm thick sub-base layer laid on DPM

SkyBIM Product Editor Ingredients

Prepare platform to receive surface bed
Area = Revit Area of Floor Slab. See SkyBIM’s Consumption Formula Editor.
